After an oil well is first drilled, it needs to be converted into a production well before it can be used to produce oil. Spirit Energy were going to use a revolutionary new process that they’d never used before for this conversion and needed a detailed step by step video for their own employees.

I sat down with the engineer responsible for the well and worked out the process on paper before translating it into a detailed storyboard. After some design/typography support from a colleague familiar with the brand, the final animation was produced after multiple iterations of animatics to iron out every technical detail and make sure everything is correct.
